Plumridge has a background in fine art, clothing construction, knitwear design, sustainability and education. Prior to studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for her undergraduate degree, she lived in Nashville, TN where she gained hands on experience working for seamstress, Lynn Lesher.

During her time studying at SAIC she interned with London Based Fashion Designer Sarah Baadarani. After graduating with a BFA from the Fashion Department at SAIC, she went on to obtain an M.Ed in Secondary Education for Visual Arts from DePaul University.

Plumridge currently teaches in the Fashion Department and Fiber and Material Studies Department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago as well as in the Fashion Department at College of DuPage.
